Dr. Alice Artzt was honored as an inductee into the Long Island Mathematics Education Hall of Fame for her work with TIME 2000 on Nov. 13.
"We are very proud of her achievement and the exemplary role she has played to help alleviate the dire shortage of qualified math teachers that still exists in this country," said President James Muyskens, in a press release.
Artzt was selected based on her work as co-founder and program director of TIME 2000, which stands for Teaching Improvements through Mathematics Education. The program prepares undergraduate students for teaching mathematics and has a success rate of 95 percent for producing teachers who have kept their jobs for at least five years.
While at QC, Artzt has been the recipient of numerous awards and has authored more than 50 professional publications.
