Just when you thought you knew the meaning of far-fetched, the latest installment of the "Transporter" series arrives.
"The Transporter 3," the third and hopefully final film in the series, is full of countless fight scenes and wild car chases featuring the film's main character, Frank Martin (Jason Statham).
In the first "Transporter" film, Martin's job was to chauffeur underground crime syndicates who wanted an experienced getaway driver. Martin asked no questions about his assignments and was paid handsomely for his services. Martin returned three years later for the sequel, "The Transporter 2," coming out of retirement as a favor for Inspector Tarconi (François Berléand).
In "The Transporter 3," Martin's job is to transport Valentina, the kidnapped daughter of Leonid Vasilev. However, Martin eventually falls in love with her.
Like in the previous films, Martin must jump through hoops to reach his destination. Whether Jason Statham is in high-speed car chases filled with European techno or is making 12-on-one fights seem easy, he is the 21st-century Steven Seagal - I mean Sylvester Stallone. Statham has much to offer the film's viewers, for he is the average hero who does his job without question, even appealing to all the Joe the Plumbers out there.
Some of the flaws in this film are the result of the cinematography. The fight scenes were sped up, making them seem nauseating. It also doesn't help that they appear to have been filmed with a hand-held camera.
The movie compensates for its lack of sophistication, however, with amazing action scenes. Jason Statham has clearly established himself as the action star of the generation.
Do not go into this movie expecting Oscar-quality performances. This is a movie to see for its ass kicking and shameless ads for Audi.
