In the vein of great numbered pop punk bands Blink-182 and Sum 41, New York's own Project 27 hits the nail on the head with their crunching guitars and infectious melodies.

Formed in 2000 in Long Beach, Long Island, Project 27 has created quite a buzz among fans and critics alike. Band members include RP, 21, vocalist, Johnny Stamos, 24, bass and keyboard, Sergei, 19, Guitar and current Queens College student Joey McEnerney, 19, on drums.

Project 27's music brings to mind the punk rock of old, calling forth the spirit of the Ramones, The Cars, The Queers, and The Descendents, all the while putting their own twist on it. On their newest EP, entitled Time to Fold, the band showcases its sound and potential with three infectious tracks. The EP is set to be released Jan. 5 on Boston's Don Giovanni Records.

Along the way, Project 27 has had the opportunity to play shows with some national acts that include Toys That Kill, Squirtgun, and Ultimate Fakebook. Their premier self-titled EP is available on interpunk.com, the biggest online punk music store. During the summer of 2006, Project 27 plans to tour and release more records.
